neuroVIZR in sport.

Light and sound as a complement to mental preparation and conscious recovery. Competition, training load, travel and expectations place physical and mental demands on athletes. Alongside targeted activation, they need reliable ways to calm down again after exertion.

What is neuroVIZR?

Short sessions, individually selectable.

neuroVIZR is a portable wellness device. During a session, the person wears the lightweight light device in front of their closed eyes and listens to a matching soundscape through headphones. The app offers various sessions for calm, focus and mental preparation.

The rhythmic light patterns and sounds create an immersive experience. Users can shape a conscious transition between tension, concentration and calm. Individual experiences may vary.

Use in everyday sport

Four moments for a session.

Before training or competition

As a short ritual to reduce distractions and focus attention on the next task.

After competition

To create a clear moment of switching off after intense stimulation.

While travelling

As a recurring personal routine across changing locations and schedules.

In the evening

As part of a relaxation routine before going to sleep.

Background

Why regulating your state matters.

Athletic development also depends on how load and recovery interact. A sports science consensus statement emphasises that an appropriate balance between training and competition load and recovery is essential for sustained high performance. Sleep is also an important part of athletes' health and performance.

neuroVIZR can be an additional, low-threshold ritual here. The importance of recovery does not in itself prove any performance gain from this device.

A first finding on shared sessions

Two musicians, one session.

In an EEG case study by the Latvian Academy of Music published in 2025, two jazz musicians each used a neuroVIZR device with the same session before improvisation tasks. Afterwards, the researchers observed increased synchronisation of the measured brain signals between the two.

Only one pair of musicians was studied. Whether the finding applies to sports teams or their interplay is still open.

Experiences from elite sport

How athletes use neuroVIZR.

The following examples are publicly described uses and partner profiles. They show possible applications but are not controlled evidence of effectiveness.

Yaroslava Mahuchikh

The Olympic champion and world record holder is presented by the Estonian distribution partner Luxsanat as an athlete who has integrated neuroVIZR into her personal routine.

Discus

Gerd Kanter

Luxsanat describes the Olympic champion as a partner and regular user, among other things for calm and concentration.

Group sessions as a possible pilot

Experience the same session together.

Several athletes can experience the same neuroVIZR session at the same time. For a federation, a supervised group session lends itself, for example before a joint training phase or after a competition.

  • Acceptance within the team
  • Subjective calm and focus
  • Practical integration into team routines

Claims about improved team coordination or athletic results require dedicated studies.

Safety and contraindications

For adults, with clear limits.

neuroVIZR is intended for adults aged 18 and over. People with epilepsy, previous seizures or marked light sensitivity should not use the device. In case of neurological conditions, pregnancy or uncertainty, consult a doctor first. Use under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not recommended. In case of headache, dizziness or other discomfort, the session is ended immediately.

neuroVIZR is a wellness device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease and does not replace medical care or sports-science-guided measures.

FAQ

Good to know.

How long does a neuroVIZR session take?

A typical session lasts about 11 minutes; other lengths are possible depending on the session. This makes neuroVIZR easy to fit in before training, after competition, while travelling or in the evening.

Can several athletes do the same session at once?

Yes. Several people can experience the same session at the same time, each with their own device and headphones. This works well for supervised group sessions, for example before a joint training phase or after a competition.

Does neuroVIZR improve athletic performance?

There is no evidence for this. neuroVIZR is a wellness device and can be an additional, low-threshold ritual for calm and focus. Claims about performance, team coordination or results require dedicated studies.

Is neuroVIZR suitable for youth athletes?

No. neuroVIZR is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
